Tom Farina was born in Melrose Park, IL January 21, 1936. His passion for flying was obvious from a young age. While attending Loyola Medical School he would sneak out to take flying lessons, which he felt to be his true passion. In 1956 Tom decided to quit medical school. He joined the Air Force and then went on to graduate from Lewis University with an engineering degree. Tom started his flying career with Flying Tigers and was then hired by Eastern on February 4, 1963. He began a career that he was passionate about, along side flying with some amazing friends! Tom enjoyed a great life. His passions were his Wisconsin farm, horses, planes, kids and grandkids, not necessarily in that order!
Tom and his wife, Biff, retired to Las Vegas after a brief stop in Atlanta. There he enjoyed being closer to his kids and grandkids and making the most of every day with them! Tom passed away on May 12, 2014 after complications from gallbladder surgery. Tom is survived by his ex-wife Biff Farina, daughter, Jennifer Bukovec and son, Tom Farina. He had four grandkids, Cole Bukovec, Cameron Bukovec, Decker Westenburg and Ashton Westenburg.
