Lyle Theodore Lee was born on September 9, 1933 in Cedar Falls, Iowa.  He graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1951 and attended Iowa State Teacher's College in Cedar Falls.  He married Ruth Weidemann in Cedar Falls in August, 1955. He became a Naval Aviator and served at Quonset Point, RI, Brunswick, ME and Corpus Christi, TX.  He graduated from the University of Iowa in 1959 and was hired by Eastern on July 20, 1959.  He flew for Eastern for more than 29 years until the strike in March, 1989. After leaving Eastern he flew for the Trump Shuttle and US Airways.  He retired at age 60 in 1993. His total flying career lasted for more than 38 years.

After his retirement he and his wife Ruth lived in San Antonio but then moved back to Clarksville, Iowa.  He was living at the Chautauqua Guest Home #2 in Charles City, Iowa when he passed away on March 9, 2014.

He is survived by his wife, three daughters, Deborah, Lynda and Rebecca and by three grandchildren, a brother, Sydney and a sister, Ginger.

Services with Military Honors provided by the Waverly Area Veterans Honor Guard were held at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home on March 13th in Waverly, IA
