Captain Ralph Sheerer  (1926-2010) flew West for the last time on Oct 17, 2010. Ralph was the consummate gentleman and aviator who was loved and respected by everyone in the ORD family. Ralph knew as a young man that he wanted to be an airline pilot and worked tirelessly to achieve his goal, moving his family around the country in the early fifties in pursuit of training and ultimately an airline job with Eastern Airlines. He was hired by Eastern on May 2, 1955. Ralph moved his family to Chicago so that he would be able to spend as much time as possible with his 3 children as they grew up. He would be able to fly during the day and be home for dinner most every night. Ralph leaves his lovely wife, June and three children he was very proud of: Karen; Neal and Nancy as well as many grandchildren. May he rest in peace!
